The scene outside the Supreme Court this morning. A historic day in the fight for equality!

Let’s do this, SCOTUS.

C’mon America! Be like Canada!

From the petition:

The United States is the only developed country in the world without paid maternity leave. Forcing families to choose between going without a salary and having a baby is unethical. Forcing mothers to give up caring for their newborns because they are going broke is not acceptable.

This petition’s goal is 100,000 you can do that tumblr!

Deadline is Thursday!

For my American friends, mamas, mamas-to-be, papas, papas-to-be and their friends. It’s rather backwards that a country who demands their leaders to produce so much economic growth can also put this kind of burden on young families. Working is good, working is important, but what good is a system that gives you back nothing for all you put in?

CBC lays out the American gun problem by the numbers.
Consider this: In 2009, there were almost 12 times more people killed by guns in the U.S. than in Italy, Canada, Germany, France, Australia, the United Kingdom and Japan combined. That is despite the fact that the combined populations of those seven countries is nearly 50 percent higher than that of the United States (451 million vs. 309 million).

"In other words, don’t worry little ladies, with Romney in the White House, companies will be so desperate for workers, they’ll have to resort to hiring women. Of course, they just might not pay you the same as the man they hired first."

President Obama’s policies aren’t working for women. We need a president who will make sure all women have the opportunity for a bright and prosperous future http://mi.tt/T0waZb

I’ll just leave this here…

"But facts and reason don’t matter in modern American politics, and Romney senses the public can be made to believe Obama has insulted America’s treasured myth about the American dream and the self-made man."

— Neil Macdonald for the CBC: The fact-free campaign for the U.S. presidency

America has a gun problem.
