Do you know how hard it is to find a good picture of Köln that isn’t the cathedral from the train bridge?!
Tuesday. It was so hot. So very, very, very hot. I melted. Luisa fell asleep in her wagon and woke up wet with sweat. Luckily, my Oma has one of these things you rarely find in Germany: A lush, green, private little yard. She also had this little basin. I filled it up with lukewarm water, took off Luisa’s little dress and plopped her in and there she splashed away until she splished all the water out of the tub.
And I cheered her on with every drop of water that landed on me.

Baby went to her first party this weekend.
She has now trained to Cologne and back twice!

This is what it looks like when you wake up in Wuppertal.
We’re back from a week-long excursion to Cologne. While we were there, Luisa spent very little time in our arms, we slept on Oma’s ridiculous sofa bed, visited with lots of family, spent lots of time showing our darling girl off and we celebrated two birthdays, including my own.
I’m 28 now.
Cologne after the Second World War. The cathedral’s survival is often referred to as “proof that God exists” by some locals. It’s a very different city centre today.

People in Cologne (Köln) have horrible hair. There is some bad hair here in Berlin, too, but its way worse in Cologne. We spotted this tri-coloured, tri-styled mess at the Wahn s-bahn station. It was the most confusing coifcombo we’d ever seen. There are three shades of yellow, spikes on top, mullet-like fringe at the bottom and flat in the middle.
Also, we were giggling pretty hard when I took this picture. He probably knew, though I doubt it prompted him to get a haircut.
