Blondes do it better

Biology fun!

  • The largest cell in the human body is the female egg and the smallest is the male sperm.
  • It takes the food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach.
  • One human hair can support 3 kg (6 lb).
  • The average man’s penis is three times the length of his thumb.
  • Human thighbones are stronger than concrete.
  • A woman’s heart beats faster than a man’s.
  • There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
  • Women blink twice as often as men.
  • The average person’s skin weighs twice as much as the brain.
  • Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still.
  • If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it.
  • Men who read this are probably still busy checking their thumbs.

Normally I have to watch Gossip Girl on the Internet because when it’s on I’m at circus class.

I like the way this looks when I SSH into my home machine. (via joshdevins)

Oh baby … I love it when you talk nerdy, even when it’s not to me.

What's up, YMCA Toronto?!

I’m on hold with the YMCA Toronto corporate office and their hold music is a kind of country-folk song all about the YMCA.

And it’s not good at all.

charmingmandy: Nothing I can say…I’m not about to start competing for the award of worst musical reference tattoo ever, but… how bad is it that I kinda want this tattooed on my brestbone? Like on a scale from 1 to 10.

Sabine: Awesome. Josh and I sang this at our wedding (we had karaoke!) and we didn’t really plan it and we sang “total eclipse of the heart”.

So...

I was supposed to be on my way home to him tonight but WestJet had other plans. Instead, my flight out of Regina to Calgary was majorly delayed and would have made me miss the connection in Calgary to Vancouver (despite it being a two-hour flight from Regina to Vancouver, it is virtually impossible to get a direct flight there). So, WestJet rescheduled my flight to leave tomorrow at 6:55 a.m. arriving in Vancouver at 8:30 a.m.

WestJet says the delay is caused by weather, but I checked the weather around the country and it all seemed pretty normal to me. And since I’m staying with my parents in Regina, WestJet says there is nothing they can offer me in terms of compensation since this flight change won’t necessarily put me “out of pocket” financially.

To that, I say fuck you, WestJet. I may not lose money, but this is how this affects me:

  • Instead of having Sunday being a really long day, Monday will now be a really long day and that is worse because on Monday, I have to WORK.
  • The day becomes long starting in the morning, instead of the evening.
  • I will have to go direct from the airport to work. On Friday, I left work and went straight to the airport. This will make it seem like I have no weekend.
  • I am one more night without my husband.
  • I get one less day between this series of flight and the next one (Nov. 29).
  • I have to get up really early: 5 a.m. local time.
  • 5 a.m. local time is 3 a.m. PST (my destination).
  • Did I mention I have to work on Monday morning? Yeah. That would be in PST.
  • I’m out of clean underwear.

So, yes, WestJet, I’m not out financially but this is certainly taxing on me personally.
