headingtowardsimplicity replied to your link: Rhubarb, macadamia nut and white chocolate cake I like that you were able to use ‘stock’ and “stalk” in the same sentence. Also I looove rhubarb. I like that you noticed.

Rhubarb, macadamia nut and white chocolate cake  →
The end of my rhubarb binge. The jam is fast disappearing and nearly everyone had seconds of the pie at brunch. I had saved 400 grams of my stock of stalks to make this. A cake that had been raved about by our friends in London. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but what came out was a deliciously spicy coffee cake with a sweet-sour layer of juicy crunch on top.

Rhubarb Jam
2 cups of chopped up rhubarb 1 cup orange juice 1.5 cups sugar Handful of walnuts, roughly chopped Pour your orange juice and sugar over the rhubarb and let it sit overnight. Cook at low temperature for 90 minutes. Stir in your chopped up walnuts. Chill. Enjoy.  I made this jam today, modified from a recipe I found on this random website that described it’s original as “at least...

I'm not cool.
A couple weeks ago, I was way too excited that the Harry Potter series was finally available as an e-book. I’d been waiting for the day since I bought my kindle — in August. I downloaded all seven books, thrilled that I would get to read them all again. I had them all in paper copies, but they were part of the lot that were sold in the move.  The friends in London we visited were telling us...

In case you care:
My heart was just as happy to have me back as I was to have her again.  The snuggles I got this afternoon were unbelievable.

I'm at home and Luisa is not.
“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” (Elizabeth Stone) She’s also not with her dad. She’s not with a relative. She’s with two lovely young women named Susan and Corinna a 15-minute bike ride north of home with six other little children. It’s her first day of...

What I did today:
Woke up too early.  Supervised colouring.  Had a second breakfast while watching Revenge as Luisa had an early nap.  Ate pita pizzas for lunch.  Went to the playground.  Soaked up sun.  Ran errands.  Got ice cream.  Went to the park.  Went to the grocery store.  Rough day.

To be fair to myself:
I did walk to Josh’s office to drop off a dozen donuts and then walked all the way back. I may not have hit the gym, but it did total to almost five kilometres of walking.  So there was that.

Saskatoon store robbed at sword point →
Two men wearing masks held up the store using a sword and then raced off in an sport utility vehicle. No one was hurt. I want to know what kind of sword it was. And where they got it from. I imagine some geeky sibling peacefully getting an early night of sleep while the obnoxious sibling who will never amount to anything sneaks out with a piece of the geeky sibling’s collection.

Googling holiday destinations:
The following websites were actually looked at while googling vacation ideas for our one week of holiday in May:  Holiday like a hobbit in cosy guest “hole” — it’s in Montana, so it’s out.  A hobbit’s holiday — someone’s blog. Unhelpful.  Hobbit houses: 15 grassy hill -shaped dwellings — None of these were holiday homes.  The Hermitage Manor — looked lovely,...

A word to the wise...
Pesto Arrabbiata is the worst thing in the world to give to your toddler. It’s delicious, but sun-dried tomatoes + oil stains are a beast. (I don’t think they will ever get out… or even give up their bright orange colour).

BOY!  We’re so excited to be adding to our family. I’m delighted that I get to parent one of each. Luisa will get a brother and we get a son.  We’ll have one of each and I’m a lucky lady who has a charmed life.
